About me and why I decided to do this blog.

My name is Amanda, and I’m new to blogging.  I wanted to try my hand at gathering and creating content for a site strictly about mermaids. I hope that in doing this blog for myself, I can better my writing skills for a project that I have been working on.  I also hope that if for some reason others actually visit that I can offer them some real enjoyment while they are here.

Why mermaids? I have had a real passion for these mythical entities ever since I was quite young.  I can’t put my finger on exactly when it all started, but I have a hunch it may have all stemmed from the movie Splash and then reinforced once Disney’s The Little Mermaid was released. 

What types of things will you share on this blog?  Over the years I’ve gathered a varying array of mermaid related items, and I will likely showcase most of them at some point on this blog.  I'm always on the lookout for mermaid related things on the internet and also in day to day life.  I'll share what I find and where you can find them too.  Expect to see things like clothing, art pieces, events, knickknacks, and toys to name a few.  Of course Ariel from the Disney film is the most popular mermaid around, but I enjoy finding non-Disney related items more.

When will the blog be updated?  Since Mermaid Monday is already a thing on the internet, I'll be sure to do a new entry then.  Blogging is new to me, so for now, I'll keep things kind of fluid to see what ends up working best.  So, if I find something that I want to share outside of Mondays, don't be surprised that I just may do so.
